David K. Haynes established his McKinney, Texas criminal defense litigation practice in 1983. Four years of previous service as Assistant District Attorney for Collin County provided insightful knowledge of the strategies used by prosecutors in a criminal case. The groundwork for devising successful criminal defense tactics is often based on an understanding and prediction of how a prosecutor might proceed with a case. Through perspective gained as a former prosecutor, along with dedicated, hard work David K. Haynes has consistently obtained effective results and won cases, qualities for which he is known today.

Meeting the rigorous qualifications of a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist in 1982, in private practice, the firm continued its focus on criminal law, making many strides in exhibiting competence.

Board Certification in Criminal Law

For close to three decades, I have been one of the few select lawyers in Collin County to receive Board Certification in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Board Certification in Criminal Law indicates that at least 25% of the lawyer’s caseload is devoted to criminal law practice. My practice is about 65% criminal defense work. Work in this field includes the preparation and trying of serious criminal offenses. in depth knowledge and demonstration of ability in applying federal constitutional law, legal procedures, rules of evidence and penal laws are required in order to obtain certification. In addition, every five years the attorney must apply for re-certification, which includes meeting standards of peer review by lawyers and judges as well as adherence to continuing legal education requirements in criminal law.

AV Rating

An aspect of the firm’s ongoing legal achievements also includes selection into the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers as an AV rated law firm. “AV” is the highest peer review rating given by Martindale-Hubbell, and an attorney of this ranking is considered to have acquired the highest ethical standards and reached the peak of professionalism, marked by a long-lasting legal career.

A Solid Reputation

Since beginning a career in criminal law in 1978, David K. Haynes has continued to build a solid reputation in state and federal courts throughout Collin County. Known among other lawyers, judges, and administrators in the regional legal system, he has successfully defended numerous cases brought to trial. As a consequence, he has established a strong practice that is mainly based on referrals from former satisfied clients and other attorneys.
